Music KS3 | Years 7 & 8
Subject Content
Students will gain skills in:
- Performance
- Composing and Appraising Music. This will include: Keyboard Skills, Musical Elements, Notation, Sign2Sing, world music and learning the Ukulele.
Assessment Details
- For each unit, 60% of the mark is from an in-class practical assessment and 40% is a 20 mark multiple choice Google quiz set for homework.
- Students are assessed on performing, composing and appraising tasks.
- The assessment charts the improvement in their performing, composing and appraisal skills as well as their creativity and collaboration.
Additional Equipment Recommended
Chromebooks are used for the listening quiz which begins every lesson.
What can I do to support my child at home?
- Listen to a wide variety of music
- Encourage them to learn an instrument
- Encourage them to take part in extracurricular clubs, including orchestra and choir
- Ensure Show My Homework tasks are completed
- Attend Concerts/Musicals/Plays
