Skills to prepare students for EDEXCEL Music in three areas:
- Unit 1: Performance 30% (Centre Assessed)
- Unit 2: Composing 30% (Centre Assessed)
- Unit 3 : Appraising 40% (Exam)
Assessment Details
The Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Music qualification has been designed to give all students the opportunity to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills of music, whatever their previous experience.
To be successful, students will need to be able to:
- Perform 1 solo piece and 1 ensemble piece totalling a minimum of 4 minutes
- Compose 2 compositions: 1 to a set brief and 1 free composition totalling a minimum of 3 minutes
- Appraise 4 Areas of Study with 2 set works in each;
- Instrumental Music 1700–1820
- Vocal Music
- Music for Stage and Screen
- Fusions

What can I do to support my child at home?
- Listen to a variety of music
- Come and support your child by attending concerts/shows
