Our Culture

Prepare, Aspire, Succeed is our guiding principle. These three words define the culture of our school. The actions and decisions of everyone should be reflected in a student's Cottesloe journey, which ultimately prepares them to successfully take their next steps. Along this journey, students will develop the necessary skills, qualities and habits that will help them to succeed. Success is what everyone wants, and it brings with it a sense of fulfilment through both educational and personal achievements.

Behaviour for Learning

To ensure that everybody has the chance to succeed, all students must meet our high expectations of Behaviour for Learning.

In the classroom we expect all students to LEARN:

Healthy Relationships

Our school is founded on creating and sustaining Healthy Relationships. All members of the school community are expected to demonstrate the qualities that reflect how we should treat others, ourselves and the wider community. Treating others with respect, equality and being honest are non-negotiable. Success in life comes from investing in positive relationships that support our aspirations.

The 6Cs

Acquiring knowledge and skills requires students to develop some important learning habits - we call these our 6Cs:

  • Challenge
  • Cooperation
  • Collaboration
  • Coaching
  • Creative
  • Critical Thinking

We can learn as much from the world as we can about the world through learning in different ways. Coaching another student how to do something is just as valuable as the ‘thing’ itself.
