Year 10

In Year 10, the students continue with Units in either Foundation or Higher GCSE. This builds upon the core programme from Year 9 and this will allow students to develop a depth of understanding. Students in the higher sets will also study for a GCSE in Statistics taken at the end of the year. The students in lower sets will sit the Functional Skills exam in the summer term. As with previous years, after each unit, the students undertake an assessment.

Sparx Maths accompanies the course and allows parents to support at home. Parents can find the content outlined on their child's Knowledge Organiser. Students are encouraged to use this to follow up the knowledge and content taught in lessons by using Sparx Maths.

Year 11

The content is split between further units or content and consolidated units from previous years. The students need to prepare for their mock exams in October and February, as this will give them an accurate indication of their final grade. The emphasis should be on improving their raw score on their 3 papers. Sparx Maths can continue to be used to supplement the knowledge and content taught in lessons.

Assessment Details

Acquire mathematical knowledge, apply this mathematical knowledge to answer questions and to solve more complex mathematical problems.

What can I do to support my child at home?

Support them with their study guide and workbook.
Use the study guide to develop mathematical knowledge and the workbook to answer practice questions on the topics covered in school.
