Christmas Food Bank Drive
Now that the Christmas holidays are approaching, our thoughts turn again to the spirit of giving, with our annual food bank collection.
The Trussell Trust recently published data showing more people than ever before are accessing food banks. They’ve seen a 94% increase in the number of people using food banks over the past five years. Between April 2023 and March 2024, the number of people that used a food bank for the first time was 655,000.
The Ethics department is always so proud and touched by the generosity of our school community when it comes to helping those who are in need. We are asking for donations of non-perishable foods and personal hygiene items.
If you are able to help, please send your donations to the school with your child. They can drop it off directly at the main school reception, or they can take it to form, and their form tutor will ensure it goes to the designated collection point.
These are the items that local food banks are requesting:
- Breakfast Cereals
- Long Life Juice and Milk
- Tinned vegetables, tomatoes, tuna, meat, puddings
- Pasta Sauce
- Rice and Pasta
- Tea, Coffee and Sugar
- Custard
- Feminine Hygiene products
- Baby products - nappies, formula
- Personal hygiene products - deodorant, toothpaste, shower gel
To reflect the message of love and generosity that is present at this time, we would also like to collect sweet treats. If you are able to pick up a chocolate selection box, or some festive treats that someone might otherwise struggle to provide for their families over the holidays, then it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your generosity!
Yours sincerely
The Ethics and Philosophy Department
