Subject Content

WJEC Level 3 Diploma in Criminology is a qualification with elements of psychology, law and sociology that complements studies in humanities. It has been designed to offer applied learning through the acquisition of knowledge and understanding in purposeful contexts linked to the criminal justice system. It is likely to be studied alongside GCE A-Levels.

Assessment Details

To be successful, students will need to be able to:

  • Develop skills for analysis
  • Assessment
  • Evaluation and application of knowledge
  • To research, develop and present project-based work.

Units 1 and 2 are completed in Year 12:

  • Unit 1: Controlled Assessment

  • Unit 2: External Examination in Summer 

Units 3 and 4 are completed in Year 13:

  • Unit 3: Controlled Assessment

  • Unit 4: External Examination in Summer

What can I do to support my child at home?

  • Discuss news relating to themes from criminology.
