Family Guide to Career Guidance

Nurturing Future Leaders

As parents, our primary goal is to equip our children with the confidence and tools they need to lead fulfilling lives. This often involves guiding them towards successful careers. While it might seem daunting to start thinking about career paths so early, the earlier we begin, the better prepared our children will be.

Families play a pivotal role in shaping their children's career aspirations. However, finding the right balance between involvement and independence can be challenging. Should we be hands-on, or should we let them explore on their own?

It's important to remember that our own experiences and beliefs can influence our advice. While our insights are valuable, we must be aware of potential biases and supplement our knowledge with current information and research.

The key to effective career guidance is open communication and providing our children with the resources they need to make informed decisions. By fostering a supportive environment and encouraging exploration, we can help them discover their passions and build a strong foundation for their future.

Unifrog – The Complete Destinations Platform

In keeping with our commitment to provide students with outstanding careers guidance and tailored support when choosing their next steps after school, we will now be using Unifrog; an award-winning, online destinations platform. All students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 now have access to this website.

Unifrog is the universal destinations platform and is designed to support learners in making the most informed decisions about their futures and has a range of tools that are suitable for all-year groups. Each student has an account where they can explore all the career and next-step options available to them and find information on everything from managing their workload to writing a winning CV. Students have access to a wide variety of video and written content, and interactive quizzes and tests.

Students access the platform by clicking on their welcome email, where they create a password and can begin using the platform. They sign in to Unifrog using their email address and password, and they can do so from any computer, tablet, or smartphone. We would encourage you to use the platform with your child so you can support them through the process of deciding their next step.

You can also have your own Unifrog account. You’ll be able to research careers, attend webinars delivered by employers and universities to learn more about their opportunities and compare pathways so you can support your child in making an informed decision about their next steps. The sign-up code you need is: CONYparents and you can sign up here: www.unifrog.org/code.
