The main deadline of 15th January has now passed and the last few students are waiting for their final offers for university places to come in. Applications have gone far and wide; from Plymouth to Cambridge, Bangor to Norwich, Leeds to Edinburgh. 70 students, nearly 80% of the upper sixth, have decided to go to university with eight of them receiving unconditional offers. A special mention should go to all those who braved the Oxbridge application process and especially to Ed Lee who has been offered a place at Jesus College Cambridge to study Natural Sciences. As usual, the chosen courses are extremely broad and include Biomedical Sciences, Physics, Natural Sciences, French, Maths and Geology.
The students benefited from all of the preparation and experience gained during Year 12 which enabled most of them to make early applications and typically received a reduced offer as a result. The Extended Project Qualification was particularly well received by a number of universities and helped the students demonstrate the desired skills as well as a deeper interest in the topic which they wish to study.
Students still have the opportunity to apply through UCAS Extra if they wish to add additional choices.
